Don’t Shoot The Messenger’ is the new single by BISHI, visionary London musician, producer, and founder of WITCiH, produced at Visconti Studio by Tony Visconti, who is famed for his work with David Bowie, Marc Bolan, and Sparks. The two make a game-changing pairing, with BISHI bringing the avant-garde and glamour of London’s capital, and Visconti, bringing his masterful experience and a love of British iconoclastic musicians.

It’s a cinematic symphony which transforms the Sitar from a classical instrument into a pop and electro-acoustic behemoth. Through the technique of midi-mapping the Sitar to Ableton Push, Bishi revolutionises its usage. The song is about a new beginning and a baptism of fire; departing old creative worlds, towards brave new frontiers. Don’t Shoot The Messenger is another example of Bishi’s characteristically unique and idiosyncratic style.

The single includes remixes from noirish synth performer Hinako Omori (Ed O’Brien, Kae Tempest, Georgia), rave wizard Richard Norris (The Grid, Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve), and Ben Corrigan (William Basinski, Jonsi & Alex, Robert Ames, Excuse the Mess). They reflect BISHI’s love and long-standing relationship with LGBTQ club spaces, from her early teens when she was adopted by Leigh Bowery’s band, Minty, and started DJing at clubs like Kashpoint and The Siren Suite.
